| Depends on tank size, what fish, etc. Only add less than 3 fish at a time when putting in fish. Don't want to overstock too soon. | |

| It can vary quite considerably but anywhere bewteen 3 and 8 weeks. The average being about 4 weeks. In cold water it can take longer, in warm water it will take less time as the bacteria grows faster under warmer conditions. You also have to make sure the ammonia levels don't get too high otherwise the bacteria wil stop converting it to nitrite and the process will stall. Live plants can help speed the process as can bacterial supplements, which some people think work and others think are a waste of money. | |

| Yes, I agree. Also, some fish, such as barbs, will destroy your plants. Plants also cause a mess sometimes, so be wary of how you use them. | |

| Oh yes. Thats all i am saving up for a while. I want to slowly replace the plastice ones. Except the plastic rocks, the Pleco loves them. I even want to put in a cave! | |

| In a ten gallon tank, your options are pretty limited. Maybe you could upgrade to a 20 Gallon Long and you could have twice as much power. | |
